Room to take part. Room to step away.

L’Élanographe creates artistic and research situations in which words, signs, objects, rules and positions can be moved and reconsidered.

Ethics begins with attention to the frame: who proposes it, what it makes possible, what it asks of others—and how it may need to change.

Participation without performance

There is no correct way to take part.

A person may observe, act, speak, remain silent, pause, take a detour, leave something unfinished or step away. Participation is voluntary, and declining an invitation requires no explanation.

Silence, refusal and withdrawal are respected. They are not interpreted on someone else’s behalf or turned into artistic material without explicit agreement.

No one is expected to be inventive, articulate, productive, emotionally open or visibly transformed.

Consent at each passage

Taking part, being documented and appearing publicly are separate choices.

Agreeing to an activity does not automatically mean agreeing to be photographed, recorded, quoted or identified. When documentation or publication is involved, its purpose and possible uses are explained in relation to that particular project.

Situated and revisable frames

Every proposition begins from a particular position, context and set of choices. L’Élanographe does not claim a neutral or complete view of the situations it explores.

Its maps, scores and instruments are partial and revisable. They may make a constraint or tension perceptible, but they are not presented as solutions.

The person proposing a situation remains responsible for its frame and for changing it when necessary.

Words and traces

Contributions are not automatically available for documentation or publication. The conditions for keeping, sharing or withdrawing a trace are defined in relation to each project.

When adequate protection cannot be ensured, the material remains outside public circulation.

Distinct practices

L’Élanographe offers artistic and research propositions. It does not provide therapy, diagnosis, crisis support, coaching, mediation, legal advice or individual decision-making guidance.

Participation does not create a professional support relationship or promise personal transformation.

A route that can change

A proposition may be slowed down, altered, interrupted or brought to an end. Misunderstandings, refusals and non-effects may reveal the limits of a device without becoming evidence about the people involved.

The route remains revisable. Not proceeding is also a possible direction.
