Constellation élanographique Une étoile scintille à distance d’une forme jaune directionnelle. Des points dispersés et deux billes en mouvement composent une constellation traversée par une trajectoire pointillée en serpentine.

Journey

As you begin to draw your way, elsewhere appears.

To walk is to let a path appear beneath our feet. In a time shaped by prediction, acceleration, and immediate outcomes, making a way of our own means allowing uncertainty, delay, and the embodied knowledge of moving—by hand, by foot, at the pace of a body.

Three possible directions

Trace a path

Draw a trajectory on your own.

Go

Leave the straight line

Follow a sequence of instructions. Let interruptions, detours and shifts alter the line.

Enter through a story

Build a story from signs and see where it takes you.

Trace a path

What if a compass did not point North?

This is not a test and there is no correct route. The Compass records relations, tensions and movementsnot a result.

The Elanographic Compass is an experimental navigation device for locating yourself within a situation and sensing where you might want to move next.

It spatialises forces, thresholds, contradictions and possible passages. You can explore its fields in sequence or through entriesdetoursreturns, and exits.

Each of its 9 axes opens onto a question. Together, they help you trace a possible route toward a desired horizon.

Your Compass remembers a route rather than a result.

HOW TO PLAY. Below is the Elanographic Compass.
Click on the words to reveal a question.
Draw a path from the central point and see where it takes you.
Clear the trace to renew your path.

Boussole élanographique interactive

Boussole dessinée à la main, composée d’un cercle irrégulier et de lignes rayonnantes. Point mobile et trajectoire Un point violet peut être déplacé dans la boussole. Son passage laisse une trajectoire rose pointillée.

The Compass orients. The line tests the direction.

One more step

You might want to draw the path beginning to emerge—or let your line discover it as you go.

HOW TO PLAY. Draw your way toward the horizon that emerged from the Compass, letting the path bend, stop or return as needed.

Let elsewhere appear

TO GO FURTHER. As you draw your line, pay attention to the line itself. What is the line doing? What does the gesture allow, retain, interrupt or make impossible?

Then return to the line.

Leave the straight line

Draw your way before it draws you.

A straight line is only one way of moving. A pause, a bend, a reversal, a second line, or an unexpected constraint can reveal another route.

Here, instructions act as small devices for displacement. Choose one, follow it with a line, a gesture, or your body, and notice what it changes. You may repeat it, combine it with another, abandon it halfway, or let it take you somewhere you had not planned to go.

The point is to put the path in motion, and see what becomes possible when it stops going straight.

TO GO FURTHER. How is your line following you—and how are you following it?

Enter Through a Story

The Logography is an alphabet of signs that offers another way to approach what may already feel too familiar, too quickly named, or already known.

HOW TO PLAY. Use the logography below to compose a story by moving shapes through space. Bring them together, pull them apart, let one interrupt another. Move a shape and see how the story changes.

L’Élanographe — Logography

Borrow a sign. Move it. Add another. Compose a phrase of forms.

TO GO FURTHER. What story took shape along the way?
